Postcards From Sophia

Album 1. Dezember 2023

  • Whether in New York, London, Hamburg, or Amsterdam: Jules Atlas needs nothing more than his voice and a guitar to captivate the audience with his touching songs. At the age of 18, the Hamburg native ventured to London, where, over the years, he made a name for himself in the city's bars and clubs with numerous performances. With folk-typical guitar playing, catchy melodies, and narrative lyrics, he evokes a spark of Gaslight-Café nostalgia. Authentic and unfiltered, melancholic and exhilarating: Jules Atlas sings folk songs in a pop guise.

Through European tours with artists like Rhys Lewis and Axel Flovent, as well as numerous headline shows, Jules Atlas gained extensive live experience and built a considerable fanbase. After many years with London as his home base, he now returns to Germany with a matured repertoire and ample stage experience.

On December 1, 2023, the Hamburg singer-songwriter releases his debut album, "Postcards From Sophia." After four successful singles and initial media attention (Bayern 3, NDR, Fest & Flauschig, etc.), Jules Atlas stays true to himself and echoes the years in London and New York. He is characteristically personal in his songs, narrating a long-distance relationship, the search for oneself, and the anticipation of each other. In a total of eleven acoustic ballads and captivating uptempo songs, he paints a multifaceted picture of what it feels like to be in one's mid-twenties, searching for connection and meaning—sometimes happy, sometimes yearning, sometimes aimless.

The album was produced by Swen Meyer (Tim Bendzko, Lena, Jochen Diestelmeyer) and Vincent van der Klugt (Jochen Diestelmeyer).

  • I don't wanna tell them you are stone cold in your heart

But I cannot pretend you know the warmth my flesh demands

Is it my delusion or your narrow winding path to love me

Last saw you in the evening under crimson coloured sky

I suckled on a hope I know you planted on my mind

Put money on the table and a dream into my eyes to love you

So throw me down your river with everyone you had

Break my resolution every time I try

‘There's nothing left to lose’ said the morning to the sun

‘But keep in mind: The night will fear the dawn’

I don't wanna tell them you ain't suffering like me

But I cannot pretend you haven't found somebody new

Now I'm the one who's breaking like the ice beneath my feet to love you

My name will be forgotten when my body is replaced

Came close to giving up as I kept hanging on your grace

You took me by the shoulder and you threw me in your cave to love you

So throw me down your river with everyone you had

Break my resolution every time I try

‘There's nothing left to lose’ said the morning to the sun

‘But keep in mind: The night will fear the dawn’

I don't wanna tell them you are stone cold in your heart

But I cannot pretend you know the warmth my flesh demands

Now I'm the one who's falling like a fool into your arms to love you

So throw me down your river with everyone you had

Break my resolution every time I try

‘There's nothing left to lose’ said the morning to the sun

‘But keep in mind: The night will fear the dawn’

Lions

Single 7. July 2023

  • On July 7th, Hamburg-based singer-songwriter Jules Atlas releases his fourth single, "Lions” showcasing a driving indie-rock song about the battle for self love and closure. “Know my lion heart will last”: a message to all those who thought to have broken a fragile heart. After three successful single releases, Jules Atlas now reveals another artistic side with the fierce „Lions."

  • My my wicked fool look at the fire you have caused

Burning up the spirits on my mind

I tell your little truth and put the writing on my door

Spare me the “I didn’t come to fight”

Oh I’ve never seen your kindness

Drag me to the floor and bring on your deceit

With all your ever growing might you have me plead

There you go, sweeping my heart as you cease to have it

But be warned, keep me fighting lover and know my lion heart will

Cracking up the stones that were holding up my hope

I take it there’s no running off this time

I wait wait wait till’ your breaches start to show

I’m saving my retreat for another day

Oh you tumble by the deep end

Throw another stone to take me to the ground

I feel your ever growing fear of going down

There you go, sweeping my heart as you cease to have it

But be warned, keep me fighting lover and know my lion heart will last

Pick it up, pick it up I ain’t gonna wait no more

Give it up, give it up time ain’t gonna save oh

There you go, sweeping my heart as you cease to have it

But be warned, keep me fighting lover and know my lion heart will last

There you go, sweeping my heart as you cease to have it

But be warned, keep me fighting lover and know my lion heart will last

Lost With Me

Single 26. May 2023

  • "Lost With Me" is the third single by Hamburg-based singer-songwriter Jules Atlas, set to be released on May 26th. It is a danceable up-tempo song that encourages letting go of baggage and bravely embracing something new: 'Come get a little bit lost with me.' Waiting or moving on? Heart versus mind. When in doubt, choose getting lost together.

Following the successful releases of the two ballads 'You' and 'Lockers' Jules Atlas showcases his feel-good side with 'Lost With Me'.

  • Sunlight filling the shade and

This room is not the same anymore

No one needed to wake us

We stayed up, the hours are gone

    Uh maybe you were right

    Nothing’s lasting but time

If you want somebody with you

One day I will be here

Come get a little bit lost on my way

Just get a little bit lost with me

Let them tell you you are crazy

But they don’t know what it means

Come get a little bit lost on my way

Just get a little bit lost with me

    ‘See the particles racing;

Just like us’ you say with a laugh

    My regret in the making

Always knew you’re a cynic at heart

    Uh maybe you were right

But maybe you’ll change your mind

If you want somebody with you

One day I will be here

Come get a little bit lost on my way

Just get a little bit lost with me

Let them tell you you are crazy

But they don’t know what it means

Come get a little bit lost on my way

Just get a little bit lost with me

Oh oh oh oh oh lost with me now

Oh oh oh oh oh lost with me

Oh oh oh oh oh lost with me now

Oh oh oh oh oh lost with me

If you want somebody with you

One day I will be here

Come get a little bit lost on my way

Just get a little bit lost with me

Let them tell you you are crazy

But they don’t know what it means

Come get a little bit lost on my way

Just get a little bit lost with me

Lockers

Single 31. March 2023

  • On March 31, Jules Atlas releases 'Lockers', his second single, which sounds more anthemic with its band sound than the acoustic and gentle debut 'You'.

In 'Lockers', the Hamburg-based singer-songwriter describes a scene with two people in a café on London's Circle Line. A crushing speechlessness surrounds them and opens up like a chasm between them. It's about not being able to say everything to each other in a relationship.

  • We’re getting breakfast at the cafe by the station on the circle line

And I say ‘How’s your father I know he went to the doctor, is everything alright?’

I don’t know where to start

When words feel like mountains weighing on your heart

    It’s back to small talk

We ask for the bill and we leave

    And we’re smiling

Act like we’re fine and we’ve been trying

To keep it inside just tell me now

Say what you don’t wanna say

    I know you love me

You don’t have to hide when things get ugly

Just turn off the light and let it out

Say what you don’t wanna say

Half of the time we’re at a distance talking all night through the satellites

We only spend time on the good parts, the big dreams, the things we like

I don’t know where to start

When words feel like mountains weighing on your heart

    It’s back to small talk

We lay there and stare at the screen

    And we’re smiling

Act like we’re fine and we’ve been trying

To keep it inside just tell me now

Say what you don’t wanna say

    I know you love me

You don’t have to hide when things get ugly

Just turn off the light and let it out

Say what you don’t wanna say

Uhhhhh I know that we’ve been holding it in

But how good would it feel to not pretend

    And we’re smiling

Act like we’re fine and we’ve been trying

To keep it inside just tell me now

Say what you don’t wanna say

    I know you love me

You don’t have to hide when things get ugly

Just turn off the light and let it out

Say what you don’t wanna say

Uhhhhh I know that we’ve been holding it in

But how good would it feel to not pretend

Cause’ we only hurt each other

If we keep it all in lockers

You

Single 24. February 2023

  • Jules Atlas releases his debut single “You” on February 24th. In this acoustic ballad, the singer-songwriter from Hamburg describes the feeling of fully surrendering to the attraction of another person. Images of rainy road trips and overnight train rides frame a newly blossoming relationship with all its excitement and overwhelming might.

  • Sleeping in cars

    Drive in the rain

    There’s nothing but us

    Nothing I’d change

There’s nowhere to hide it now

    There’s nowhere to go

The harder I try not to fall for you

    The harder I fall

As you lie with me now

Sophia you are taking all my guns

    Lay them down

Well who’d have thought that love disarms

    It’s you I want

    It’s you I miss

    Yeah you I adore

No one I love like this

    Sleeping on trains

    That run down the coast

    You in my arms

    Me in my hopes

There’s no way to fight it now

    There’s no way to know

The harder I try not to fall for you

    The harder I fall

As you lie with me now

Sophia you are taking all my guns

    Lay them down

Well who’d have thought that love disarms

    It’s you I want

    It’s you I miss

    Yeah you I adore

No one I love like this

    Lalalala

As you lie with me now

Sophia you are taking all my guns

    Lay them down

Well who’d have thought that love disarms

    It’s you I want
It’s you I miss

    Yeah you I adore

No one I love like this
